The following figure outlines the lifecycle of a document using ProjectWise at ODOT.  The document lifecycle is important to ensure the storing of data so documents can be easily accessed during design and construction and retrieved once the project has been archived.

The stages that a document goes through from its creation to its eventual archival or destruction within ProjectWise include: document creation, storage location, attribute assignments (metadata), referencing, delivering, reviewing, reporting, archiving, and destruction.

Note: Currently, there are no plans for document destruction for digital archived data.
