"Work Zone Safety: We're All in This Together"

Be Alert - Stay Focused - Stay Informed - Keep Safe

Work Zone Awareness week events are held across the nation to educate drivers about work zone safety and to remember the motorists and workers who have lost their lives in work zone collisions. There have been a total of 57 ODOT workers killed in the line of duty, more than any other state agency. Overall in 2013, 17 people were killed and 857 were injured in 1,646 motor vehicle collisions in work zones statewide. Nationally, four out of five people killed in work zones are motorists or passengers in vehicles, indicating the way you drive in work zones has a direct effect on your own safety as well as the safety of the workers.
