" Work Zones Need Your Undivided Attention "Be Alert - Stay Focused - Stay Informed - Keep SafeNational Work Zone Awareness week events are held across the nation to educate drivers about work zone safety and to remember the motorists and workers who have lost their lives in work zone collisions. In 2011, as ODOT proudly celebrates its 100th year anniversary, we also remember the 54 ODOT employees who have been killed in the line of duty, more than any other state agency in Oklahoma. Preliminary figures show that in 2010, 18 people were killed and 748 injured in 1,407 motor vehicle collisions in work zones in Oklahoma, the greatest number of work zone collisions in nearly two decades. In order to reduce work zone accident, drivers must put aside distractions, be alert, and stay informed when driving through work zones. |
