This figure illustrates an example of sign placement on shared-use paths.

To the left of the path, a pole-mounted sign is shown, showing the back of the sign. To the right of the path, another pole-mounted sign is shown, showing the front of the sign.

The near edge of each sign is shown as a dimensioned distance of 0.9 m (3 ft) MIN. and 1.8 m (6 ft) MAX. from the near edge of the shared-use path. The height from the surface of the path at its nearest edge to the bottom of the sign is shown as a dimensioned distance of 1.2 m (4 ft) MIN. and 1.5 m (5 ft) MAX.
