MICROSTATION/AUTOCAD BASED STANDARD DRAWINGS - README (8/19/98)
  
The following O.D.O.T. Metric and English Roadway Standards, having the 
sheet number format of R-XXXM & R-XXX, respectively, have been saved 
and exported  as Autocad (*.dwg ) and MicroStation (*.dgn) drawings and 
may be used with versions of Autocad Version 10 and up and MicroStation 
Version 5 and up. The font(s) that were exported with the Autocad draw-
ings (*.dwg) were labeled Sansserif and Euroman, but any font style may 
be assigned to those 'names' when the file is first brought into Autocad
and loaded the first time.
  
In general, the following  information applies  to the original  Micro-
Station design files before being converted to the 'dwg' drawing files. 
First, the drawings were created on a 2D drawing file and used levels 
1, 25 and 35. Level 1 contained all the drawing text and linework while
level 25 contained the title block information.  Level 35 contained the
detail block information.  Second, very few colors were used, with 
green and yellow being the primary colors and red used for borders and
title block text.  Third, only two fonts were used, with font003 used 
for drawing text and font007 used in the title block.  The Autocad font
Sansserif can be substituted for the MicroStation font003 and the 
Euroman Autocad font can be substituted for the MicroStation font007.  
Both fonts, Euroman and Sansserif, are default fonts found in the basic
installation of Autocad.  Fourth, the line weights were kept to 0, 1 and
2 for text and line work.  There may be some lines with line weight 3, 
but very few, if any.  Fifth, dimensions, extension lines, leader arrow
heads and dimension text were NOT created using the MicroStation dimen-
sion utility but were placed individually with traditional lines and 
custom arrowheads, made up as cells and standard text specifically  
placed for the best fit and appearance.
  
MICROSTATION STANDARD DRAWINGS

The MicroStation drawings (*.dgn ) were transferred to the web site  
'as is' and may require some font styles and special cells that are 
not included with the stock MicroStation installation. We will be in- 
cluding these resource files (*.rsc ) and a cell libraries (*.cel )
by the first of September.  You may make arrangements to receive the 
files at an earlier date by contacting the ODOT at the address given 
at the end of this readme file.  

Update:  The zipped RESOURCE files, ( .rsc & .cel ) may be downloaded 
from the 1999 Roadway Index page for English Microstation version.   
  
  
The Metric Roadway Standard Drawing files contained on this website 
will be maintained in the same time frame as all future revised stan-
dards are placed in circulation and provided to Reproduction Services
for contracts and plan sets.   As standard drawings are revised or 
become discontinued, they will be available from Reproduction Services
and will not be available through this website.   Only the current, on
the shelf, version of the Roadway Standard Drawings will be listed and
downloadable from this website.
