General Rules:

• Use only 11 x 17 inch paper or poster board - other sizes will NOT be judged.
• Must be student’s original slogan and original artwork
• No syndicated, copyrighted or clip art images!
• No computer aided or copy machine entries.
• The entry form must be filled out completely and attached to the upper right hand corner on back of the poster.
• Reproducibility of the poster will be a factor in the judges' decisions, so use bright colors!
• Entries must be received by your local Department of Environmental Quality Office by February 1, 2009.

Themes:

• The poster and slogan must be original concepts.
• The poster should have a positive approach and focus on solutions to solid waste and trash problems.

Judging:

Poster entries must be sent or delivered to the local Department of Environmental Quality Office. The DEQ offices judge each county’s posters and send the county winners to the ODOT Beautification Office. The Beautification Office then coordinates the state judging. The posters are judged on:

• Quality of Design
• Creativity and Originality of the Artwork
• Creativity and Originality of the Slogan
• Appropriate Theme
• Reproducibility
